Navi Gill.png

Being true to my given name, Navdeep; which literally translates into “new-light” that is what I bring into my work, the life of my clients and community. My work in healing as a practitioner and holistic wellness educator is based in my ancestral knowledge of Ayurveda, yoga and meditation woven with life skills coaching.  My journey began when I found myself  immersed in books on healing, travel, astronomy and nature as a child and mixing up herbal remedies in my mother's kitchen. My curiosity to regain my families indigenous healing practices took me back to India, where I found my spiritual path and Ayurveda. With the blessings of my teacher His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar I created Navi Gill Wellness to provide education on holistic health, reclaim & share the wisdom of Ayurveda and to revive the practice of rituals amongst women of colour. A primary focus of my practice is to decolonize wellness by creating community and accessibility to ancestral wisdom for people of colour.

I am a certified Ayurvedic Practitioner and body worker, Yoga teacher and Life Skills Coach, trained in ancient Ayurvedic bodywork including Marma Chikitsa therapy and foundational Panchakarma therapies. I believe that we already possess the medicine within us to deeply heal ourselves, it has become my dharma to reconnect with the efforts of generations before me and offer the teachings authentically to those in search of healing and light.

July 30 / Day 4: CONNECTION

Community Building Through Wellness

Tejal Patel.png

Tejal quit her consumer finance job a year after her first teacher training. After returning from six months of travel and more yoga study, she learned how to budget on way lower pay (thanks to 10yrs of excel!) and dove into teaching yoga. During that first year, she worked at countless studios while creating and growing her own yoga offerings at tejalyoga.com - something she felt opened the doors of yoga to more people. The good outweighed the bad by far, but she was shocked to work in an industry seemingly of peace and love and discover a very pervasive culture of spiritual by-passing, greed, racism, narcissism, and abuse of power & privilege. She decided to use this newfound knowledge to empower herself and others.

She is the creator of abcdyogi village, an international community for any born conscientious desi yogi of South Asian descent to reclaim the yoga and mindfulness space by sharing their personal stories and practices with the world. She was featured as  19 Women of Color to Watch in the Yoga World in 2019.  Tejal also offers group vinyasa and restorative yoga classes at Humming Puppy NYC and private yoga and reiki sessions.
